15 Jul THE CONSULAR AUTHENTICATION AND LEGALIZATION PROCEDURES FOR DOCUMENTS ISSUED IN CHINA
According to Diplomatic Note No. LS/061/2006 on May 31st, 2006 and Diplomatic Note No. 174/2014 on April 29th, 2014 of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Papers and documents issued in China such as degrees, certificates, kinds of transcripts, criminal records, birth, marriage certificates, commercial vouchers,… need to be executed with the following steps to be used in Vietnam:
- Step 1: Notarization at the local Chinese notary office;
- Step 2: Consular Authentication at the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China (hereafter referred to as “the Department”) or authorized Foreign Affairs Offices of local governments (FAO);
- Step 3: Legalization at the Embassy or Consulate General of Socialist
Republic of Viet Nam in China.
Thus, the steps of consular authentication and legalization for documents issued in China are not executed in Vietnam but in China (depending on the consular area).
