Conditions & Procedures of granting entry to foreigners, Vietnamese

The Government’s office has issued official letter No. 450/VPCP-QHQT on January 18, 2022 regarding to procedures for entry of foreigners, Vietnamese people residing with relatives overseas will be simplified.

Foreigner who can apply for Vietnam entry visa

The foreigners shall have invitation or guarantee of agencies, organizations and individuals in accordance with the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.
For the foreigners entering Vietnam for the purpose of tourism, the Ministries shall continue to apply the pilot program for international tourism reopening.

New: Before January 18, 2022 only investors, experts and their relatives can apply for entry visa into Vietnam during the covid situation, since January 18, 2022 more foreigners are entitled to apply for visa entry

Procedures for granting entry:

The foreigners, Vietnamese people residing with relatives overseas who have legal documents on entry such as unexpired certificate of visa-free entry, permanent residence card, temporary residence card, visa… shall be entitled to enter Vietnam without having to re-apply for inspection of identity, grant of visa/visa-free entry, permission for entry from the central or local authorities.
Foreigners who do not have visas want to entry Vietnam for the purposes of working, attending conferences, seminars, studying and humanitarian… shall granting entry from the local People’s Committees.

New: Before January 18, 2022 all foreigners, Vietnamese people have to apply for approval letter for entry from the central or local authorities
